Zonal English Awards Day held in Matugama successfully

Zonal English Awards Day 2011 of Matugama Education Zone was held successfully at the auditorium of C.W.W. Kannagara Central College, Matugama on 6th December.

A section of the large number of award winner students participated in the Awards Day. 

Deputy Director of Education - English of Western Province Mr. Gamini Abedheera was the chief guest of the event. Addressing the gathering he said the Awards Day of Matugama Education Zone with its high quality souvenir was excellent and  Matugama Education Zone had come to the foremost position among the zones of the Western Province performance wise. 

Students of C.W.W. Kannangara Central College, Sr. Mary's College, Ananda Sastralaya and Andawala Junior School added color to the event with their fabulous performances. 

Teachers that excelled in evaluations their career performances were also awarded certificates at the Zonal English Awards Day. 

Assistant Director of Education - English of Matugama Education Zone Mr. Premalal B. Ranaweerage said he was delivering his last speech in the annual Awards Day as the Director - English since he would retire from the service in March. 

Four schools, namely Ovitigala M.V., Saranathissa M.V., Meryl Kariyawasam M.M.V., and C.W.W. Kannangara M.M.V. were awarded as the best schools since they bagged the highest number of certificates in the three categories of schools.
