Ms. Sophie from China at Yatadola Saranathissa Junior School

Foreign volunteers that work in the schools of Matugama Educational Zone are very popular among the students. They live and work in Sri Lanka for brief periods but leave behind their memory in the minds of the students who had the first opportunity in their life to associate closely with a foreigner.

We met Ms. Sophie, a university student from China, while she was teaching to Grade 11 students in an outdoor classroom of Yatadola Saranathissa Junior School. The students spoke in English with her at ease. In one picture, a girl is speaking about Sophie.
